
What We Do.
The Detroit Catholic Pastoral Alliance enhances community life by involving members in social, moral, political, and economic issues across Metropolitan Detroit.
Anti-Racism:
The Alliance has been actively involved in anti-racism work for over 20 years, our anti-racism team has had extensive training from The People’s Institute, of New Orleans and Crossroads of Chicago.
Affordable Housing Program:
The Alliance Affordable Housing Program has been committed to providing decent, affordable housing for over 25 years. The alliance has leveraged more than 20 million in investments and completed over 150 units of affordable housing through new construction of single-family homes, multi-family sites, single-family rehab, and neighborhood beautification projects and parks.
Community Advocacy Committee:
The DCPA Community Advocacy Committee advocates, supports, and identifies community needs and rights with action initiatives.
Friends of Returning Citizens:
Our Mission is to advocate for criminal justice reform as well as to provide navigation assistance for returning citizens.
Travel Network:
Our travel Network plans day trips and out of town short vacations to places like Memphis, TN, Lansing, MI and even Niagara Falls.
Senior Services:
The DCPA strives to increase the quality of life for seniors, with Grant assistance and other non-profit partnerships, we deliver food to seniors at the Gratiot Woods Co-Op and Van Dyke Center Apartments. We also provide local travel for senior outings such as Museums and restaurants and day trips to Wal-Mart.
Ministers of Service:
The DCPA bi-annually hosts Ministers of Service training and installations.
Urban Parish Coalition:
The Urban Parish Coalition represents the Alliance’s original purpose, to maintain a strong and thriving Catholic presence in the City of Detroit and create meaningful programs for the benefit of all city parishes.
Epiphany Education:
A place where trained tutors, qualified teachers and volunteers help students to develop academically, improve self-esteem, and imbibe values that foster a peaceful society.
Youth Activities:
The DCPA works with parish youth ministers to bring youth together for large events like Martin Luther King Day of Service and youth retreats.
