The Detroit Catholic Pastoral Alliance with support from the Kresge Foundation and the Ford Foundation will host 7 weeks of community events to reengage the community as COVID restrictions are starting to easy.
This series is aimed to not only engage residents but with end with the multi-million dollar campaign to reopen the shuttered Brighter Detroit Community Center which has been a main stay in the community since 1940, when it was first built by Nativity Parish for their schools and the community. In the late 70s it became home to the only Urban 4H Club in the United States and soon it will become a hub of community activity which will feature a gym, computer lab teaching kitchen for culinary program and other spaces that will be accessible to the community.
The summer Series will kick on on June 25th with a Block Party from 6-8:30 p.m.
